Membership Update 9-4-2018

Dear Member
 
The branch meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month (unless otherwise noted) at the Merriweather Library at Jefferson and E. Utica Street. If the Monday meeting day is a holiday, the Library is closed, the meeting will be held on the next day, Tuesday. The meeting schedule for the rest of 2018, 9/17, 10/8, and 11/13. The September meeting is crucial, elections are coming up in November. Anyone who wishes to run for a seat on the committee, please come to meeting to express your intent. Make sure your membership dues are current.
 
Upcoming events:
 
NAACP, National Action Network(NAN), and the Urban League is sponsoring a Candidates Forum September 6, 2018 at the Downtown Library Auditorium at 6pm. Your vote is important, please come out and learn about your candidates.
 
The Quarterly Meeting of the State NAACP held October 5-7. They will honor Frank Mesiah with a tribute.
 
World on Your Plate- NAACP is co-sponsoring the World on Your Plate Conference at Daemen College in Buffalo, NY on October 5-6, 2018. By providing featured speakers and workshops, this annual conference explores models of food justice and sustainability as an alternative to the industrial model of food production and distribution.
 
Election of Officers for the Buffalo Branch NAACP will be held at the November 12, 2018 meeting.

There are various committees doing numerous activities throughout the community. What inspires you? I am sure we have a committee for you, if not, you can form one. This is your organization, you have a say.
