Robert Mootry

1st Vice President

Robert Mootry, Jr. is happily married to Mia, is the proud father of three daughters (Lovette, Kayla Nicole, and Kayla Alexis), and is the grandfather of Ryan Jr., Kamron, Makiya, and great-grandfather to Princeton Karter.  Robert is a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where he serves on the hospitality committee, male chorus, trustee board, and transportation ministry.  He is also a Chairperson of the Mount Olive Development Corporation.

Robert worked for the State of New York and the Buffalo Psychiatric Center for 28 ½ years before joining the staff of CSEA, where he is a Director of the CSEA Western Region since 2014.  In this role, he is responsible for over 40,000 members employed in 14 surrounding counties.

Robert Mootry, Jr. is currently an Executive Board Member of the Buffalo Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. The Coalition consists of members from seventy-seven international and national unions with forty-two chapters across the United States.  CBTU seeks to fulfill the dream of those black trade unionists, both living and deceased, who throughout this century have courageously and unremittingly struggled to build a national movement that will bring their collective strengths and varied talents to bear in the unending effort to achieve economic, political and social justice for every American.

Robert is currently a gold lifetime member of the Buffalo Branch of NAACP. He also serves as the Vice President of the Buffalo Chapter.

Robert currently serves as Chairperson of the Mount Olive Development Corporation. The mission at the Mt. Olive Development Corporation is to provide educational, economic services related to the social concerns through restoring, building, and uplifting the community.  We further express the belief that the educational, economic, and social concerns of the community should be advocated by those who live, work and worship within the community.  It further expresses the belief that through its program it can educate, empower, and foster a sense of hope and community.
